Chris Christie Pardons PA Gun Owner

...don't know if this helps Chris Christie's 2016 aspirations, but it sure as hell can't hurt 'em, either:
In brief, (Shaneen) Allen was in possession of a PA-issued concealed carry permit and a handgun when she drove across the Delaware and into New Jersey.  Pulled over for a routine traffic stop, Allen volunteered to the officer that she was in possession of the handgun.  She mistakenly believed that her PA concealed carry permit, like her PA driver’s license, was legally valid in both states.
The New Jersey authorities quickly disabused her of that notion, charged her with illegal possession of a handgun, threatened the mother of two small children with a multiple-year mandatory jail sentence, and refused to allow her to enter a diversion program for non-violent first-time offenders (the same program into which football star and wife knock-out puncher Ray Rice would be readily admitted without hesitation just months later).
After months of focused attention from the National Rifle Association, renowned gun law attorney Evan Nappen, and the entire of the Second Amendment advocacy blogosphere–and with NJ Governor Chris Christie seeing his Presidential aspirations rapidly sinking–a sudden change was made and Allen was allowed into the diversion program, thus avoiding jail time and a criminal conviction.(Legal Insurrection)
However, Christie went one step further, issuing a gubernatorial pardon for Ms. Allen and thus freeing her from any legal troubles within the Garden State....
...now, if we could just get a national concealed-carry reciprocity law into effect, so that none of this state-by-state stuff happens again...

...and to think, I voted for the sonuvabitch twice!
Now, if you'll excuse me...

In all very numerous assemblies, of whatever character composed, passion never fails to wrest the sceptre from reason. ... Had every Athenian citizen been a Socrates, every Athenian assembly would still have been a mob. - Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, Federalist No. 55 — 1788

History will also give Occasion to expatiate on the Advantage of Civil Orders and Constitutions, how Men and their Properties are protected by joining in Societies and establishing Government; their Industry encouraged and rewarded, Arts invented, and Life made more comfortable: The Advantages of Liberty, Mischiefs of Licentiousness, Benefits arising from good Laws and a due Execution of Justice. Thus may the first Principles of sound Politicks be fix'd in the Minds of Youth. - Benjamin Franklin, Proposals Relating to the Education of Youth in Pensilvania — 1749

Founder's Quote, 1 April 2015

Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it. - John Adams, Thoughts on Government — 1776

Seared Music: Bob Seger - "Against The Wind"

...for some reason, as I read the news over at Autoextremist that this week's edition would be Peter M. DeLorenzo's final edition, wrapping up over 15 years of covering the automotive industry - and the motorsports industry, as well, I couldn't help but think of this song...just one of those things, you know.

*looks at a nearby calendar* On the other hand, considering that tomorrow is April 1st...man, if this is his idea of an April Fools' Joke, its' not a funny one, man...I guess we'll know next week, huh?

A Refresher On Socialism

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Gather these basic home goods from the stores of progressive wonderland Venezuela. There, no problematic Congressional Republicans or Ted Cruz imaginations can muss with the progressive leader’s vision for radical redistributionism and equality, so all is going swimmingly. Here are your assignments:

Corn flour
Milk
Coffee
Cooking oil
Shampoo
Detergent
Dishwashing soap
Toilet paper
Watch BBC reporter Daniel Pardo search for these supplies.

Most of a day gone and three products for Pardo. He notes that studies show Venezuelans spend about eight hours a week in line or looking for household goods, often designating a family member to take a day off of work to accomplish this task.

This is socialism at its best. At its worst, it murders dissidents by the millions, starves multitudes, shuts down free speech, TV stations and newspapers. At its best, it is an elaborate torture device for the poor and working class who must stand in hours-long lines and call in favors and bribe officials just to merit the dignity of toilet paper. Yay for the proletariat.

Cue the Sunday New York Times. In a piece called “Why not Utopia?” Mark Bittman wonders why we don’t just try all the ideas of Marxist socialists again because that sounds so nice. Well, here’s the deal, Mark. The 20th century was full of people and nations bent on seeking Marxist socialist utopia and descending into barbarity in their search for “justice.” The historical blind spot necessary to say, “Marxist Utopia, why not?” is remarkable.

There are about 100 million reasons, and most of them are lying in mass graves around the world (if you can even find them). There are those who are still being put in graves in the service of this utopia, which requires a giant, all-powerful centralized force to tell everyone what to do and violently stop anyone who doesn’t agree with its ends. So, yes, there are some reasons why not. Check out our intellectual betters, regurgitating the same, seductive, ultimately destructive nonsense of years gone by...

I couldn't have said it better myself...

And have we now forgotten that powerful Friend? or do we imagine we no longer need its assistance? I have lived, Sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this Truth, that God governs in the Affairs of Men. And if a Sparrow cannot fall to the Ground without his Notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid? - Benjamin Franklin, Motion for Prayers in the Constitutional Convention — 1787

Seared Music: Johnny Cash - "I Shall Not Be Moved"

....hopefully, the geniuses in the Hoosier State the Bigoted State who thought couching a right-to-discriminate law in "religious liberty & freedom" bullshit will get a nice, heavy dose of karma for their efforts...and no, I ain't apologizing for referring to Indiana as the Bigoted State either, thank you very much!

Olbermann: Why The NCAA Must Pull The Final Four Out Of Indiana

...while I highly doubt that the NCAA is going to pull the Final Four out of Indianapolis, it would please me to no end if the NCAA - among others - were to leave the Hoosier State the Bigoted State and not return until such time as the law is stricken off the books. Religious freedom my ass; this Indiana law is but a smoke-screen for society's bigots to use as a cudgel against members of the LGBT community and it should not stand, period.

The Reasons Why Democrats Are The Party Of Slavery & Victimization

....once again, ZoNation hits its' right out of the park; historically speaking, it was - and still is, through government - the Democrat Party which has been the party of bigotry, racism, victimization and oppression...and the more we call them out for it, the better....

[I]f you speak of solid information and sound judgement, Colonel Washington is, unquestionably the greatest man on that floor. - Patrick Henry, on George Washington — 1775

Next Time You Think College Is Worth The Time & Effort...

....just think about this for a moment:
....I rest my case.

You Had One Job, Sir...

...now, I know people are prone to errors, but isn't one of the errors you try not to commit as a range safety officer is making sure there's no one downrange of where you're shooting...I mean, seriously folks, it shouldn't be that hard...

Iran & The Bomb

Many countries have nuclear weapons, and many more want them. Only one, though, has its neighbors and the world terrified. That country is Iran. Why is everyone so concerned? Because the Islamic theocracy has repeatedly threatened to destroy Israel, sponsors global terrorism, and would leverage the deterrence effect of a nuclear weapon to advance their anti-Western and anti-American interests. Bret Stephens, foreign affairs columnist for the Wall Street Journal explains the one thing you really need to know in order to understand why we can't let Iran get the bomb -- they may actually use it.(Prager University)

*scratches head in thought* ...remind me again why Iran should possess nuclear weapons?
