Rand Paul's Speech On Defunding Planned Parenthood

Quoting: Senator Rand Paul spoke at the #‎WomenBetrayed Rally in DC about defunding Planned Parenthood. I want to thank Students for Life of America for organizing rallies all over the country on the important issue of defending life. Planned Parenthood has become the center of debate after recent videos were released where top Planned Parenthood officials made statements on how they sell aborted baby parts for profit. Planned Parenthood has received federal and state tax dollars for years and now Paul would like to see that funding disappear. Paul believes that he is two votes away from completely defunding Planned Parenthood.

I'm of two minds here...on the one hand, as much money as PP gets privately, why do they even need one scintilla of federal tax dollars. On the other hand, given the way politics are in D.C. at present, I'm not holding out much hope that they'll defund PP...am I wrong to think that?

The regular distribution of power into distinct departments; the introduction of legislative balances and checks; the institution of courts composed of judges holding their offices during good behavior; the representation of the people in the legislature by deputies of their own election... They are means, and powerful means, by which the excellences of republican govenrment may be retained and its imperfections lessened or avoided. - Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 9 — 1787

I consider the government of the United States as interdicted by the Constitution from intermeddling with religious institutions, their doctrines, discipline, or exercises. This results not only from the provision that no law shall be made respecting the establishment or free exercise of religion, but from that also which reserves to the States the powers not delegated to the United States. Certainly, no power to prescribe any religious exercise or to assume authority in any religious discipline has been delegated to the General Government. It must then rest with the States. - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Samuel Miller — 1808

NC Congressman Files Motion To Oust Speaker Boehner

About. Damned. Time!
In a move unprecedented in the history of the House of Representatives, a Republican lawmaker filed a motion Tuesday to remove House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, from his post, in another sign of dissatisfaction with Boehner’s leadership by a number of House conservatives.
Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., filed the resolution -- a “motion to vacate the chair” -- late Tuesday, claiming that he “has endeavored to consolidate power and centralize decision-making, bypassing the majority of the 435 Members of Congress and the people they represent.”
The proposal was referred to a committee stocked with leadership loyalists, and therefore unlikely to emerge.
The motion says that Boehner has caused the power of Congress to atrophy, “thereby making Congress subservient to the Executive and Judicial branches, diminishing the voice of the American People.” The motion also claims that Boehner has used the power of his office to “punish Members who vote according to their conscience instead of the will of the Speaker.” (Fox News)
How unprecedented a move is this by by Congressman Meadows (who, by the way, represents NC's 11th District, my home district)? Try "hasn't ever happened in the history of the House"...now, you might ask: what are the odds of this happening? Well...I've got better odds of dating US Women's soccer star Kelley O'Hara - or any member of the USWNT, for that matter - than this motion has of passing, but most experts out there believe that this is another salvo by the House GOP's conservative wing against the party's establishment wing.

However, given the fact that Speaker John of Orange didn't even get a majority of the House to vote for him for Speaker (216-219), he ain't on solid ground to start with...the big fear that I have as a political watcher here is that, should the Speaker decide to exit stage right, who would replace him? On top of that, the possibility is there that, should Speaker Boehner feel he's lost the trust of a good chunk of the House Republican Conference, the possibility's there - very slight, but still... - of Boehner going to Nancy Pelosi (a/k/a Botox Nancy) and asking House Democrats to vote against such a motion were it ever to get to the floor...if that ever happens, there'd likely be a political bloodbath w/in the GOP...among other things, probably.

If I had to harbor a guess...I'd say this resolution is not going anywhere, but it could be a step towards ridding the House of Speaker John Boehner Drunken Crybaby...and that might be a good thing indeed.

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. - John Adams, Address to the Military — 1798

HRC Boards Private Jet Hours After Global-Warming Push

There's hypocrisy...then there's the limousine liberal sized hypocrisy of Democrat Party presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton:
Just hours after Hillary Clinton unveiled her presidential campaign's push to solve global warming through an aggressive carbon-cutting plan, she sauntered up the steps of a 19-seat private jet in Des Moines, Iowa.
The aircraft, a Dassault model Falcon 900B, burns 347 gallons of fuel per hour. And like all Dassault business jets, Hillary's ride was made in France. The Trump-esque transportation costs $5,850 per hour to rent, according to the website of Executive Fliteways, the company that owns it. And she has used the same plane before, including on at least one trip for speeches that brought her $500,000 in fees.
On Monday the Democratic presidential front-runner announced the details of her initiative to tackle climate change, calling it 'one of the most urgent threats of our time.'  But shortly afterward, a videographer working with the conservative America Rising PAC spotted her at the private air terminal in Des Moines. Fifteen seconds of video shot just after 12:00 noon, local time, shows Clinton walking up the plane's stairs while an aide hodls a giant black umbrella over her head to sheld her from falling rain.
'Despite her campaign’s best efforts to rebrand her as a down-to-earth fighter for "everyday Americans," Hillary Clinton’s jet-setting ways are just further confirmation that she’s out of touch with the American people,' the group's communications driector Jeff Bechdel told DailyMail.com. 'It’s that kind of hypocrisy that makes the majority of voters say Clinton is not honest or trustworthy.' (Daily Mail)
Think about that for a moment...she goes to launch another elitist push against "global warming", then scuttles off to her private jet which guzzles God knows how much fuel and spews God knows how much carbon dioxide into the air, the very definition of a limousine liberal...and this woman wants to be the next president of the United States?
