National Security Advisor: U.S. National Security Agencies "Too White"

.....and this is important how, Ms. Rice?
White House National Security Adviser Susan E. Rice said Wednesday there are too many white people in key government posts, creating the danger of “groupthink” that could put U.S. security at risk.
Speaking at Florida International University’s commencement, Ms. Rice said a diversified government workforce is more likely to yield “better outcomes” than a predominantly white one.
Referring to criticism that the U.S. national security workforce is “white, male, and Yale,” Ms. Rice told the graduates, “In the halls of power, in the faces of our national security leaders, America is still not fully reflected.” (Fox Nation via. Washington Times)
Suggestion to Ms. Rice: rather than worry about the skin color of the applicants, worry about (a) whether they can do the freakin' job they're hired to do and (b) whether they're loyal to the United States...but what do I know? I'm just a conservative... *sarcastic eyeroll*

Hypocrisy, Anyone?

Ever since NC passed one of the most anti-gay laws in recent memory, groups like the hate group a/k/a the Family Research Council have been calling on supporters to boycott companies such as PayPal, who recently decided not to move a coming Global Operations Ctr to the Charlotte area as a result of the new law.

If this is the case, how do they explain this?
Following the decision, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council declared in an email to supporters: “Good riddance! Anyone with half a brain shouldn’t want that kind of extremism operating out of North Carolina anyway.
“There was a time, not too long ago, when most corporations would have probably moved out of a state if it did allow such lunacy.
“Now that Big Business has been co-opted by LGBT activists, it’s not just demanding — but punishing — anyone who thinks the safety and privacy of our daughters is too much to pay for political correctness.”
But LGBT activists have noted that despite the group savaging PayPal and telling their supporters to reject their extremism, their website tells a very different story if you try to donate money. Attempting to donate $100 to the group through their central payment system, we were very surprised to see the preferred option is… PayPal.
Their payment processing page says quite prominently: “NOW ACCEPTING PAYPAL! The safest, easiest way to pay. “Please verify your donation amount before clicking on the PayPal button.” (Pink News)
Hypocrisy, thy name is the Family Resource Council...

Marie Harf Is An Idiot...

...and she works for the State Department, but that would belabor the point here, which is that you have to be uniquely tone-deaf to what is happening in the Middle East vis-a-vis ISIS (or ISIL or IS or whatever the hell the Islamonazis' are calling themselves at the moment...) to have Chris "Thrill Up My Leg" Matthews of MSDNC call you out for it...quoting:
MATTHEWS: How do we stop this? I don’t see it. I see the Shia militias coming out of Baghdad who are all Shia. The Sunnis hate them. The Sunnis are loyal to ISIS rather than going in with the Shia. You’ve got the Kurds, the Jordanian air force and now the Egyptian air force. But i don’t see any — If i were ISIS, I wouldn’t be afraid right now. I can figure there is no existential threat to these people. They can keep finding places where they can hold executions and putting the camera work together, getting their props ready and killing people for show. And nothing we do right now seems to be directed at stopping this.
HARF: Well, I think there’s a few stages here. Right now what we’re doing is trying to take their leaders and their fighters off the battlefield in Iraq and Syria. That’s really where they flourish.
MATTHEWS: Are we killing enough of them?
HARF: We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs, whether —
MATTHEWS: We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or fifty lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?
HARF: We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people…(Right Scoop via. Weasel Zippers)
...wait...let me get this straight: the reason these knuckleheads are joining ISIS-ISIL-IS-the Islamonazis' is because of a lack of jobs?!? Repeat after me....what the fuck?

There are all kinds of stupid in this world, but I swear, I do believe Ms. Harf has pretty much reached the absolute bottom of the stupid barrel in thinking if we just help the poor demented souls find jobs, they won't come a-tryin' to kill us...to quote Gunny Hartman from Full Metal JacketWhat is your major malfunction, numbnuts?!

Crude Oil Tanker Derailment In WV Sends Oil Into River

....remind me again why we shouldn't build the Keystone XL pipeline:
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A train carrying crude oil derailed in southern West Virginia on Monday, sending at least one tanker into the Kanawha River and sparking a house fire, officials said. There were no immediate reports of injuries. State emergency response and environmental officials headed to the scene about 30 miles southeast of Charleston.
The state was under a winter storm warning and getting heavy snowfall at times, with as much as 5 inches in some places. It’s not clear if the weather had anything to do with the crash. (CBS News)
Remember, pipelines are safer for transporting oil long distances than either rail or road networks....but will anyone listen?

Familiar Face Returns To IndyCar Race Control...

Everytime IndyCar racing takes a few steps forward (mergification between the IRL & ChampCar, new Indycars, the return to prominence for the Indy 500, etc), they take a huge step back...
Meet the new Verizon IndyCar Series race director, same as the old one. Brian Barnhart will return to his post as race director for the 2015 season, thus returning to the role he held from 1997 through 2011.
As race director, Barnhart will lead the Verizon IndyCar Series’ three-steward Race Control system in 2015. Barnhart was a key member of the INDYCAR Race Control system implemented in 2014 that stipulates all in-race penalties are decided by a two-thirds vote amongst the respective stewards officiating each event. The race director and race control system falls under the command of INDYCAR president of competition and operations, Derrick Walker.
“This is a position and a role that I’ve done for a number of years and I take a great deal of pride in being Race Director of the Verizon IndyCar Series,” Barnhart said in a release. “One of the things that excites me the most is the steward system we implemented last year. That was a great advancement in how we review and make discretionary decisions, and having that assistance in making calls is a big improvement to the way we officiate INDYCAR events.” (NBC MotorSportsTalk)
...and in case you wondering why people would say that it is a giant step back, just watch this from New Hampshire 2011 and defend Barnhart's return:

...why yes, Will, many of us are feeling the same way you did back then...
